HO scale is great because it's still manageable to work (play) with but the space requirements to get a nice layout aren't as much as O-Scale or any of the other larger scales. The size is roughly half of o-Scale and so it creates a great balance between detail and space requirements. It allows for an intricate layout in a more compact area, making it a practical choice for those with limited space. It also means less space for your model train storage boxes, which is helpful as well because you can store more trains in less amount of space...and who wouldn't love more trains? :)
